Graduate Conclave 2018
About Graduate Conclave
Date: 27-28 th January 2018
Place: Gulbarga, Karnataka
Dear Muslim Graduate brethren, what is the legacy you want to leave? Every day about 370,000 souls are welcomed into the world while about 150,000 depart. Of these, many leave the world untouched by their presence, while a lot many leave the world a much better place than they found it. They leave the world a better place by nature of their contribution to their immediate community, society and the world at large.
Muslim contributions to the major advancements in several areas of knowledge are well known. Although the world might suffer from historical amnesia, we, Muslims, are often gripped by the nostalgia of the Golden Ages of Islam. Pioneering contributions in the fields of Algebra (Al-Khawarizmi), Optics (Ibn Haytham), Medicine (Ibn Sina), Philosophy, Astronomy (Jabir Ibn Afla), Alchemy and many other fields were witnessed. Inventions/discoveries such as coffee, paper-making, accurate measuring instruments etc changed the world forever. It was a period when Muslims fulfilled their bounden religious duty of acquiring knowledge and transformed the lives of millions through the application of knowledge. The fruits of such work are still enjoyed by the world even till this date.
While it is necessary to derive motivation from the history, nostalgia alone cannot bring advancement of any civilization. The world today is in dire need of thinkers, philosophers, scientists, professionals in every field to excel in their respective areas of expertise so that the daunting problems/challenges of the modern world may be faced and dealt with. As Muslims, it is essential for us to seek excellence in all that we do. Ihsaan (excellence) must be the state that every Muslim must aspire to reach, not just in Ibaadah, but in all aspects of life. The desire to excel in our chosen career path such that it not only benefits us, but the larger human civilization must be our goal. It is only through our active contributions of impact; will we be able to regain our status as Khair-e-Ummah.
Graduates’ Conclave is one such initiative taken up by SIO Karnataka aimed at restoring the confidence and reigniting the minds of the Muslim graduates to struggle for regaining our status as khair-e-ummah (the best of nations). It aims at re-orienting graduates to work constructively with a vision that is beyond the materialistic purposes, so that they can be the benefactors to their fellow human beings, their society and the whole of humankind. This conclave will In sha Allah be a foundation stone in rebuilding the fortress of confidence, excellence, peace and welfare in the society.
